Gout is one painful problem that haunts millions of people across the world. This acute arthritis that causes joint inflammation has a very interesting gender issue which we will discuss in this article – does it affect men more than women?

Over time, it’s been shown that men are more vulnerable to develop gout than women – this is what research has shown over the years and throughout history.

There are obviously a handful of reasons for this phenomenon and that is what I will be further discussing below.

Gout Risks: Why Men?

Research has show that in America, about 80% of the gout patients are men. Most people don’t realize this – I didn’t until I started thinking about the people around me that had gout.  They were all men!  I don’t know any women with the condition.

The probable reason for this that scientists have been researching is that the risk of having Hyperuricemia is higher in men than in women.

A man’s body produces uric acid at a rate way higher than most women. The production rate begins to climb up during the teenage years and when they reach their middle ages, they already have had a life of excessive uric acid production going on inside of their bodies.

It is a part of human nature that allows our minds to keep finding alternative and more affective ways along with ones medical science suggests.

One of these new miraculous non-medical beliefs is that cherries can be used to cure your gout problem. Does this really work? Let’s take a look…

Healing Gout with Cherries: The Beginning

It began in 1950 when a doctor himself, called Ludwig Blau, claimed that a daily dose of six to eight cherries helps to send your gout problem to it’s grave.

Just like all the other medical claims, this one also faced severe criticism and doubts that even included the validity of the physician’s credentials.

Gout and alcohol – are they friendly to each other? Or are they arch-nemesis? I’m going to be talking about them today in this next article. I’ve been on a roll lately!

Gout is one painful kind of arthritis that can leave disturbing impacts on the entire lifestyle of a person. For gout, the word “lifestyle” is a significant issue.

For many years now, experts have found a deep connection to alcohols and gout. The interesting thing is that not all the alcoholic beverages have an influence on gout.

So which ones do? That’s what we’ll be covering below…

Gout: How Alcohols Get Connected

Formerly, gout was called the “King’s Disease” as in the past, only kings and rich men seemed to develop this syndrome. The name does not suggest anything commendable, and nor do the patients think of themselves as kings these days.

If we take a look at the habits and practices that are common in gout patients, we can find that the way they eat, live and lead their lives is closely related to the way the rich ate during the medieval and reconstruction periods.

I know that whey protein as a gout treatment sounds crazy, but could it be true? That’s what I decided to write about today as I recently came across some information during my gout remedy research.

Medical science is something that never rests and is constantly improving year after year, finding new cures for diseases we never thought curable. And gout is definitely one problem that hampers the life of the afflicted to a great extent.

This age-old problem has no pure medical treatments yet that can reduce it without causing any side effects. Our matter of hope lies with the hard-work and researches of the scientists and nutritionists who are trying to get something better to challenge gout’s audacity.

And one of the new treatments being researched is whey protein!

Gout: The Development and Testing Process

For most people suffering from gout, it is initially found in the big toes. The toe becomes red and puffy, and penetrating pain that feels like needles starts to occur. Simply touching the toe can cause immense pain as I know from personal experience.

Soon, walking becomes difficult as hell and the pain seems to come back more frequently as the condition worsens over time.

Those who take a deeper interest in history and stories from the medieval ages may find gout to be present in them. It may be the old King whose damsel daughter is in distress or a nobleman dying of gouty pain.

The reason mentioning it is obvious – to show how old and infamous the gout disease really is.

This form of joint arthritis is found worldwide causing immense pains to millions. To be very honest, gout is not something that “accidentally” happens – it is, in fact, something that people invite in unknowingly most of the time.

Gout: The Attack

Gout is the outcome of the formation of uric acid crystals in the affected joint, mostly the big toes for unknown reasons, causing piercing pain from time to time.

Beside the big toe, it can occur initially in other joints like the knee, elbow or feet. The place, at first, starts to puff up with growing redness and inflammation.

Even a slightest touch of a blanket can feel like a stab into your toe!

Gout Drugs SymptomsGout is one of those conditions that is not easily cured through the taking of prescription drugs.

The hyperuricaemia situation that’s known for causing gout to a greater extent simply cannot be cured by prescribed medicines.

Four of these drugs are commonly used for controlling the gout symptoms. Here they are:

Colchicine
